parents…

i talked to my mom yesterday on the phone… and found out that her being a teacher before she was married has completely nothing to do with her interest.  i did not know that.  well… i suppose she told me that story once before, some parts of it sounded familiar.  but i did not realized that.  it was a shocked to me nevertheless.  i thought teaching was something that she enjoyed.  guess not.  i asked her what she would do if she didn’t have to teach, she said she would like to do something artsy.  but due to the patriarchal mentality that everyone had and her family situation back then, she did not get much of a choice.

before our conversation i’ve always wonder what my dad would want to do if he does not have the family business to take care of.  would he still be in business? or would he be a social worker?    or sociologist?  he’s alwasys been so interested in what goes on in the world and have so much deep thoughts about it…

my parents did what they could so that me and my brother to some extend can do what we wanted to do.  in my case, i can get education to do what i am called to do in the future.  that’s just so amazing.  in the same way, God has done that for me too… but putting himself up on the cross, so that i would have the opportunity to have access to greater things though i totally do not deserve it.  makes me want to go … “wow.”
